7th February, Mumbai: With the much-awaited inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) dates being announced, actor Rayya Labib who is a cricket fan and amatuer women’s cricket player herself, said she is supporting the Mumbai Indians Women’s team.
The WPL will be played from March 4 to 26 in Mumbai at the Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium, a PTI report said.
The tournament opener is expected to be played between Gujarat Giants and the Mumbai Indians-owned franchise.
The auction for teams will take place on February 13 in Mumbai, a day after India’s T20 World Cup match against Pakistan.
Besides three IPL team owners — Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals — Capri Global Holdings (Lucknow) and the Adani Sportsline have bought the five franchises.
More than 1500 players have registered for the league and the final list of players in the pool is expected to be released later this week, reports claimed.
With the dates being announced, Rayya is excited and is waiting for the teams to be announced.
“Now that the tournament dates are announced, I am waiting for the teams and the individual players, as well as the match schedule,” Rayya said.
