15th February, Mumbai: Produced by Sargun Mehta and Ravie Dubey’s Dreamiyata Entertainment, Udaariyaan has been winning hearts since its inception. Actor Rohit Purohit, who plays the role of Advait in the show, says that people are loving his portrayal.
“To be honest, it is very difficult to relate characters in fictional shows as well as historical shows. The character of Advait is very unpredictable as he is a politician so he has to take care of his image also. I don’t relate to the character much because you have to change yourself as per the storyline. The response has been amazing since the day I started shooting. Since the first scene got telecast, I have got immense love. I’ve been in this industry for 14-15 years and this is the first time everyone has accepted a character and given so much love, so early. The response is amazing and I am very thankful to the audience and fans,” he says.
Ask him what is the best compliment he has got so far, and he says, “This is a social media generation. After every episode, we get a lot of compliments. Udaariyaan is the number one show on Colors. I am amazed to see the love that I have received. My fans’ love is the biggest compliment for me.”
Talking about working with Ravie Dubey and Sargun Mehta, Rohit says, “Working with Ravie and Sargun is amazing. They are very creative and give freedom to their actors. They always stay in touch with the actors and are always available for everything. I think they have a bright future ahead.”
The show is being shot in Chandigarh and Rohit is really enjoying his stay. “I love Chandigarh. I’ve always been in love with Punjab but I didn’t ever get a chance to stay here. The place where we are shooting, Kharad, is very beautiful. There are Sarso ke khet everywhere. It’s been four months that I am shooting here and I am enjoying every bit of it,” he says.
He adds that he loves the vibe of the show. “Udaariyan has a very youthful flavour. Every actor working with me is younger than me. It is really fun working with them, their energy levels are so high. Punjabi storytelling is being loved by audiences these days. The festivals that are being celebrated in Punjab every few days are amazing. People, here, enjoy life a lot. The people who are not in Punjab, it's a festive party for them to see it on screen. I think this is the main reason why Punjabi shows are trending these days.”
